Antigua is said to have been named by Christopher Columbus after the catherdral in Seville, Spain. Lord Nelson was Senior officer of the Leeward Islands and gave his name to the famous Nelson Dockyard, the only working Georgian dockyard remaining in the world.

Jolly Harbour Marina is located on the protected leeward side of the island, conveniently situated 20 minutes away from both the international airport and the island's capital, St John.

The Weather

Situated in the West Indies of the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean, the temperatures vary little during the whole year, with temperatures between 21°C and 30°C. Humidity is lower here than many other Caribbean islands, and the season between November and February offers the most settled weather. The Trade Winds blow from the North East, offering great sailing in breezes typically between F4 - F6.
